Biography
Divakar S. Mithal, MD., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and attending physician in Neurocritical Care and Neurogenetics in the Section of Neurology at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Mithal completed an undergraduate degree in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from MIT, followed by a combined MD-PhD degree at Northwestern University. He trained in Child Neurology was at Lurie Children’s, where he also completed a clinical fellowship in Pediatric NeuroCritical Care. His clinical interests include the acute management of children with critical neurologic illness, particularly those with underlying genetic or metabolic conditions. In the outpatient setting Dr. Mithal sees patients with primary mitochondrial diseases, other neurogenetic/neurometabolic disorder. Dr. Mithal also has a basic science program to study the pathophysiology of and develop treatments for mitochondrial disorders.
