Biography
Saef Izzy is a faculty at the Divisions of Neurocritical Care and Cerebrovascular Diseases, and Neuroimmunology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), Harvard Medical School. Dr. Izzy is the head of the Immunology of Brain Injury program at Ann Romney Center for Neurological Diseases (ARCND) at BWH. He is a clinician-scientist funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense, and his research interests centered on modulating neuroinflammatory responses to enhance neurological recovery after brain injury. Dr. Izzy's laboratory also focuses on investigating the links between brain injury and chronic cardiovascular neurodegenerative diseases, with a specific focus on the role of neuroinflammation and the diet-gut-brain nexus. Dr. Izzy is the immediate past Editor-in-Chief of Currents, Neurocritical Care Society e-magazine, and an active member of the Board of Trustees of the Neurocritical Care Foundation.
