Biography
I completed my undergraduate degree and did graduate studies at Johns Hopkins University, and then medical school at U. of Maryland. I was the first graduate of the combined EM-IM Residency at U. Maryland where I was Chief Resident. I completed my Fellowship in Critical Care at UM/Shock Trauma and later did an Advanced Fellowship there in Extracorporeal Organ Support. I was a faculty member at East Carolina U. where I developed and directed the EM-IM residency program and the ICU Consult Service. At Baylor College of Medicine, I was the Director of ED Critical Care. For the last 15 years, I have been at U. FL College of Medicine -Jacksonville where I am a Professor of EM, Neurology and Surgery, and am the Director of the Advanced Lung/ECLS Service, Director of the Med-Surg ICU, and was Co-Director of the NSICU for a decade.
