SUMMARY:Serial Neurologic Assessment in Neurocritical Care: Where have we
 been? Where are we going?
DESCRIPTION:Breakout Session\n\nElizabeth Zink (The Johns Hopkins Hospital
)\n\nSerial neurologic assessment performed by bedside nurses is seen as f
oundational in monitoring for patients in neurocritical care, however a si
gnificant amount of variation exists in the content and frequency of these
assessments. This session will summarize the variety of neurologic assess
ment tools and scales with psychometric properties such as interrater reli
ability. Current literature on the impact of serial neurologic assessment
on detection of clinical deterioration and on complications such as interr
upted sleep and delirium will be reviewed. \nIntegration of available tech
nology into neurologic assessment will be discussed as well as the applica
tion of future technologies such as artificial intelligence derived predic
tive algorithms for clinical deterioration. A future state of neurologic m
onitoring in neurocritical care will be suggested using a clinical case fo
rmat.\n\nTrack: Clinical Practice\n\nFocus Area: APP Practice, Bedside Nur
sing, Delirium, General Critical Care, Multimodal Neuromonitoring (invasiv
e/non-invasive), Neurogenic Respiratory Failure\n\nTarget Audience: Interm
 ediate\n\nSession Chair: Charles Andrews (MUSC)
